IES makes the software that architects, engineers, and planners rely on to model and analyse energy performance in buildings. Their technology sets the standard for the industry. Their ambition is global. But the brand wasn't keeping pace with either.
The creative concept came directly from IES's own product logic: the Virtual Environment, the simulation space at the heart of their flagship IES VE software. Taking inspiration from the square-framed logo, I built a dynamic grid framework as the foundation of the extended visual language with buildings sharpening into focus through the structure, from data to reality. Precise, clear, and flexible enough to work across every channel and market that IES needed to reach.
What started as a brand refresh grew into something broader. Over four phases, the work expanded to cover hero imagery, campaign creative for their Race to Zero Energy Buildings initiative, motion and social assets, video, print, exhibition, and product visuals. One coherent creative language, consistently applied. The result is a brand system that IES's own team can run with confidence, and a working relationship built on straight communication and genuine shared ambition.
